3rd December 2025

It's the School Carol Concert today! It seems to get earlier every year, we used to have it 2 days before the end of term which meant a lot more practising time but also made the week very stressful! Adam has been accompanying choirs for maybe 15 years now, as well as playing the organ for the congregational carols. It's a whole day rehearsal and big evening with 170 students!

If you are social media followers you will be expecting (and getting) the annual photos of the rehearsal piano ("do not move this piano") and the Narthex (look it up), and of course the rude-sounding organ stop. Check out https://bsky.app/profile/themathsbazaar.bsky.social if you want to know more.

For many years the music department was headed up by our dear friend Rebecca, who made it a glorious occasion and balanced the necessary choir discipline with an inordinate amount of joy and encouragement. So this calendar day is in memory of her:

Bit late to the party as usual, but hello to you both, and happy Advent - I too used to play the piano for lots of services but now I seem to be doing a lot more on my Christmassy red guitar!

I like the feeling of the end of term Carol concert, wave goodbye, then face plant into a box of Quality Street

Advent Calendar 2025

1st December 2025

Hello! We've sort of lost count, but think the first Advent Calendar was back in 2003, the Internet Archive Wayback Machine says it looked like this: Of course all the links are dead, but the thing it has in common with this year's is that it is still coded in HTML, probably the last thing I will ever rely on coding for. Now it looks like this: Happy Advent! We have gone for the Bonne Maman JAM Calendar again this year, after leaving it too late last year and it selling out at both Fenwick and Selfridges! We get a fresh pot of jam every day to enjoy with our tartines and Ovomaltines. We also have the Domino's "Merry Crustmas" leaflet, and a MUJI calendar we'll show you later in the month. Do let us know what you are opening every day! You can leave a message below, or email us your ideas and suggestions for future days at robotmaths@outlook.com Have a great day!
